The hybrid Career Days also met with great interest in 2023. The Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg organized the Career Days with partner institutions, including the German Research Foundation and the Female Scientist Network.

The welcoming speech was given by Prof. Dr. Daniela Dieterich (Dean of the Medical Faculty, OVGU). Organization and inputs from Dr. Anika Dirks (OVGU), Dr. Andreas Görlich (German Research Foundation), Dr. Birte Seffert (GSO-German Scholars Organization), Dr. Sabine Stegemann-Koniszewski (OVGU), Dr. Marta Brocka (Eli Lily & Company Cork), Prof. Dr. Stefanie Schreiber (OVGU) made the first of three Career Days an exciting event, which Dr. Claudia Neusüß moderated.

Questions that moved: What has developed for women in recent years and where is still need for action? What about work-life integration? Why is it necessary to use the equal opportunities funds from the German Research Society (DFG) to support young female scientists? How important are networks? Or more specifically about career planning – what influences decision-making processes with a view to staying in science or entering industry?

Role models from science provided inspiration with panel discussions and roundtables. The participants then had the opportunity to professionally prepare CVs, reflect on their own positioning, learn about networking strategies and take part in career coaching.
