In May 2023, the event “Skilled crafts make things happen – Successes in development cooperation” was organized by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) in cooperation with the Business Scouts for Development / giz and sequa gGmbH.
Master craftsmen from different trades discussed with each other and with the BMZ about the successes and hurdles of African-German business partnerships.
Three policy areas of German development cooperation, just transition, flight and migration and feminist development policy provided the framework for a varied event with short presentations, a marketplace and panel discussion with enough time for lively audience participation.
After supporting the strengthening of innovative approaches to cooperation between German skilled trades and partners in international vocational training cooperation a few years ago, we were pleased to be active again in the field of skilled trades and to moderate this exciting event. One of the key findings: Skilled crafts are not only the backbone in Germany, but all over the world when it comes to dealing with crises and shaping change.
