Flexible Working: Opportunities and Challenges for Managers and Employees

Flexible working is increasingly becoming the norm in our rapidly changing (working) world. Various models for choosing working hours and locations – at least partially – independently have become established. Many employees, whether in management or other positions, practice variants of flexible working or are looking for new, more functional ways of working differently.

What does flexible working or “New Work” mean in practice?

In addition to the major technological changes, a new understanding of good, meaningful (paid) work, of leadership and organizational values is also developing. Demands for a better balance between different areas of life are not only coming from the younger generation. These concrete changes need to be translated into suitable work structures, the necessary (technical) resources provided and, at the same time, the skills of employees developed. A culture of lifelong learning can support the necessary transformation processes here.

What good framework conditions are needed?

New requirements are emerging for employees and managers: How can teams stay connected and work together successfully despite being physically separated? Which (technical) tools and solutions enable effective collaboration over distance? Where do (new) obstacles arise and challenges become visible that can make fair access and participation opportunities more difficult? Which framework conditions help to exploit the potential of new forms of work and mitigate risks (including team dynamics and new unconscious biases)? What do we need to develop better solutions for? Which areas of tension cannot be resolved but can only be navigated professionally?

In dialogue with us

We cordially invite you to our next digital swarm evening on November 13th, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Patricia Redzewsky from the compassorange office. After an impulse on the topic, we want to engage in resonance and exchange. As always, with space for dialogue and joint thinking about concrete experiences, challenges and questions. Since places are limited, we ask that you register by email .
