“Dear women members, friends and supporters of OWEN e.V.,
we are turning to you with a request for support for our immediate environment. At the moment we need unbureaucratic emergency aid for the accommodation and meals of two colleagues from Russia and eastern Ukraine who at present cannot return to Russia due to their commitment to peace and their connections to Ukraine. Other colleagues from Ukraine and Russia who are part of our team or with whom we have worked closely in recent years are now either fleeing the attacks or persecution. They are located in different places in and outside the region and need immediate financial and technical support. This support not only helps the colleagues themselves, but also enables them to work in order to support other vulnerable people in the current situation. Below you will find our call for donations.

CALL FOR DONATIONS
For six years we have been working with women from all parts of Ukraine and Russia to contribute to peace in the Donbas through the Women’s Initiatives for Peace in Donbas (WIPD) . We have set up a platform in which not only dialogue across conflict boundaries took place, but also very concrete cooperation projects for local peace building were carried out.
The coordinating team of the Women’s Initiatives in Donbas is in contact with the more than 60 members of the platform in all parts of Ukraine and in Russia and other European countries. Our colleagues stand by each other, exchange information, organize support groups, protest against the invasion inside Russia and provide concrete help. Some of them continue to work in the war zone, others flee military violence or political persecution.
Even though we do not know what the next days and weeks will bring, it is important today to support our colleagues on the ground and maintain their ability to work. We do not want to leave our colleagues and the women of the WIPD platform alone in their commitment to the people in the field. We have opportunities to specifically provide financial and material resources to individuals who are key figures in civil society both in Ukraine and in Russia. For this we ask you for your generous financial support.
