Digital warriors

Four women – on four continents – on their way to change the world – using social media. Digitisation is also changing civil society and the possibilities for (political) activism. For example, women who stand up for freedom of expression and equality are increasingly doing so digitally.

On 24. September 2019, Claudia Neusüß, compass orange, will moderate an evening event with a film screening of the Deutsche Welle documentary “Digital Warriors – The Social Media Revolution of Women” by Bettina Kolb and Eva Richter. In the subsequent discussion with Claudia Roth, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Nasrin Bassiri, journalist and author, and Juliane Rosin from the German Women’s Council, the following questions will be addressed: What role do social media play in drawing attention to women’s rights? What are the opportunities and challenges? Does social media contribute to mobilisation and political change?
