At the end of June, decision-makers from business, associations, civil society and science met in the compassorange office to discuss the topic of “circular economy”.
- Nora Schmidt-Kessler, General Manager of the Northeast Chemical Associations
- Dr. Marianne Kuhlmann, CEO & Co-Founder , Circularity
- Prof. Dr. Christa Liedtke , Head of Department of Sustainable Production and Consumption, Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy gGmbH
- Anja Siegesmund, President BDE Federal Association of German Waste Management, Water and Recycling Industries e. V.
- Dietlind Weide , Telenario Consulting & Circular Economy Specialist Group , Federal Association for Sustainable Economy (BNW)
- Yvonne Zwick , Chairwoman of the Board of BAUM eV – Network for Sustainable Business
Nora Schmidt-Kessler said: “At our first meeting of Women in Circular Economy in Berlin on the initiative of Anja Siegesmund, we agreed that we want to proactively advance the Circular Economy through intensive discourse. The input from my colleagues from business, science and society was a great enrichment for me. The discussion from different perspectives was partly (and not surprisingly) controversial. Friction generates heat and energy, inspires and motivates. We were also able to define a large overlap. Think differently, in new and comprehensive ways; consumption and production must be fully geared towards the circular economy; waste must be seen as a sustainable raw material. We also agree and think it is important that success stories need to be told much more widely.”
Conclusion: Get out of silo thinking and move towards network approaches in order to promote the necessary development for more circularity.
Many thanks to the committed participants and special thanks to Anja Siegesmund, the new president of the BDE, for her support and making this possible!!
The evening was moderated by Dr. Philine Erfurt-Sandhu and Dr. Claudia Neusüß from compassorange.
